Mar del Plata's own label opens its first shop, on a quiet Palermo corner

Five years of building a following on the coast, mostly online, and LAMODE finally has a door you can walk through. The Palermo shop is its first outside Buenos Aires province, and the label calls it the base for future franchises.

The clothes are womenswear, restrained rather than loud, sold as full looks instead of racks sorted by category. The space is small enough to see the whole collection from the doorway, and it sits a block off the busier corners of El Salvador and Gurruchaga, so it stays quieter than most of Palermo Soho.

• The Palermo shop carries the full range; the brand's other points of sale are multibrand and stock only part of it.
