Melbourne's cult label lands on James Street

Sculptural shapes, oversized prints, a lot of black: Alpha60 finally has a Queensland home, and it's a few steps from The Calile. The sibling-run label has stayed independent for two decades, pulling collections from film, art and printmaking rather than the usual mood boards.

This is a full-range store, womenswear and menswear both, not the edited selection you'd find at a stockist. That's why they signed a permanent lease instead of just shipping to Brisbane boutiques.

Good to know

Sizing runs generous and unisex across much of the range - try before ordering online.
The Melbourne outlet on Smith Street carries past seasons if you're travelling south.

I’ve always made a point of visiting Alpha60 whenever I’m in Melbourne — it’s been a must-do ritual. So discovering the new store on James Street here in Brisbane has been an absolute delight. As a 55+ customer, I so appreciate salespeople who genuinely understand fabrication and the cut of a garment. The team don’t just sell clothes — they talk confidently about the weight of the fabric, how it will fall, how it will wear, and why the silhouette works. It’s refreshing and rare. Having their guidance while curating my wardrobe has been wonderful. Timeless pieces, beautiful structure, and thoughtful design — I keep finding myself wanting “just one more” piece of Alpha60. More Alpha60, please.
