83 new rooms, 23 warders' cottages, one address opposite the prison

Garde sits on the corner of Parry and William Streets in Fremantle, right across from the old prison walls. The new block holds 83 rooms and suites, and the 23 limestone cottages built for the warders in the 1850s now book under the same name, for 106 keys total under one reception.

It's the third hotel from the team behind Warders and Hougoumont, all within a few streets of each other. There's an all-day restaurant and bar downstairs, and the Cappuccino Strip is a five-minute walk from the door.

Good to know

• The Warders Cottages are still bookable through Garde - ask for one if you want the limestone rooms rather than the new build.
• Reception for both buildings is now in the new hotel on the Parry Street corner.
