Coffee, paninis and laptop-friendly seats in The Arcades

Grab a panini and camp out for a few hours. Frequency Café & Hub is built for people who need wifi and a decent flat white as much as they need lunch, with seating that's meant for a full laptop session, not a quick espresso and go.

The menu sticks to café basics: coffee, pastries, paninis, smoothies. Nothing fancy, but it's done well, and it helped bring some life back to a quiet stretch of Water Street when it opened alongside the bookshop Long Story Short next door.

Good to know

• It closes by 3 or 4pm most days, plan a morning visit.
• Good for working with a laptop, the Hub half of the name isn't just branding.
