Tona Café

A coffee counter hiding in a basement arcade
Everyone looks for coffee at street level. Tona is downstairs in the Galeria Metrópole, past the record shops, in a corner most people walk right by. The iced filter comes with cacao honey and lemon, and the butter cake with ganache is the move if you've got room.
There's a roast beef sandwich too, for when coffee isn't enough. It landed on 2025's new São Paulo café lists and somehow still feels like a find.

Breakfast was meticulously prepared with care and dedication from the team. The flavors brought balance and harmony. A perfectly balanced experience. High-quality brewed coffee, all ingredients carefully chosen and prepared. If I lived here, it would definitely be a regular spot where I'd always be saying hello.

Tucked away in the basement of the Galeria Metrópole, right in the heart of São Paulo, Tona Café stands like an oasis amidst the chaos. The space is small, but its grandeur lies in the delicious treats it serves. The coffee, obviously, is the starting point; whether it's the freshly brewed coffee of the day, always available, or the iced version with orange juice, it's worth trying. The food, however, is a spectacle in itself: made with the care that transforms a snack into a feast. The cakes are delicious, the pies are incredible, but the sandwiches take first place on my podium. The bread is already wonderful on its own, but it gets even better with the combination of flavors in the filling. It's impossible not to try the mortadella sandwich (forget everything you know about this and discover a journey of flavors!) or the tomato sandwich (which is anything but simple or bland). Finally, don't leave without at least taking a double chocolate cookie with fleur de sel. Crispy and creamy in just the right measure, leaving you wanting more! Super attentive and friendly service, with fair prices.

When people think of a "revitalized" city center, they never imagine that it is the insistence and resilience of people in inhabiting unlikely places that makes all the difference, as evidenced by many who are in the Metrópole gallery. The sweets that Renato makes are something you have to try before you die, and after trying them you need them to live. Congratulations!

Simply perfect! Everything was very clean, the food was sensational, and the chef is extremely skilled and polite. I loved everything about my experience. Regarding the location, which I saw in the comments, I thought it was great. I would describe it as peace amidst the chaos of the city center. Because it's a calm environment, you can have a quiet conversation, ideal for a break from the hustle and bustle!

Intimate and tranquil atmosphere, excellent service. Special mention for the sweets and coffee drinks. One of the 5 best coffee shops in São Paulo, run by its founders, which gives the place an authentic feel. A must-stop in the Metrópole gallery.
