Village-style Cameroonian barbecue with live drumming in Logbessou.

Chepele's name translates to 'Man with the Pot.' The restaurant sits behind IUC in Logbessou, part of Bonaberi on Douala's west bank. It's built entirely around traditional Cameroonian cooking and village-style dining: barbecue cooked over open flame, served alongside live music, mbagalum drumming and traditional dance.

It's pitched as a cultural evening as much as a meal, one location doing what it calls 'real food, real culture' rather than spreading across multiple sites. That makes it a rare Douala restaurant built around ceremony and performance rather than a conventional dining room.
