La Maison Générale

A Breton concept store's first Canadian shop
La Maison Générale crossed from Saint-Malo into its first store outside France, filling the corner space that was the De Gascogne pâtisserie for years on Avenue Laurier Ouest. Antiques and one-off finds sit alongside rugs, design furniture, household linen, perfume and tableware.
Aline works as the shop's interior designer and meets clients in-store to plan whole rooms rather than single purchases. Workshops run occasionally too, embroidery among them.
Good to know
- Aline, the shop's interior designer, works in-store, you can book time with her rather than just buying off the floor.
- Stock rotates around antiques and one-off pieces, so what's there in April won't be there in September.

This place has beautiful bedding. Straight from France and very high-quality. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and had a good eye for colours. We bought a whole set and they sent it to Alberta for us for no charge shipping. Excellent experience.
