Carved wood pieces you'd otherwise only find at a festival

Wood carving here used to be a festival-only thing, popping up at one-off exhibitions and disappearing again. This outlet in Mtsangani changes that with a fixed shelf of sculptures and decorative pieces you can actually walk in and buy.

It's run by GPCD, a heritage NGO based across the water on Anjouan. That a Grande Comore shop needs backing from Domoni says a lot about how rare permanent craft retail still is here.
