Turkish and Italian-style gelato on a Vedado corner that had none

Vedado had paladares on every block but nowhere dedicated to dessert. A La Turca fixed that with a proper gelato counter built around Turkish and Italian-style ice cream and sweets, the kind of thing rare enough in Havana to make local news.

It landed on the corner of 21 and L in August 2025, one of a small wave of dessert shops opening along this stretch. Grab a scoop and walk the block, there's finally a reason to.

I have had a few meals here and they have all been great. Tonight I had Durham Ropa Vieja which is my favourite.

Best food and place in Havana. We were back 3 times. Very tasty pizzas. Excellent music trio. Good prices and nice waitresses. A must in Havana.
