El Qalaa opened in 2025 right across from Shali Fortress, one of a handful of new cafes that have popped up in Siwa's Old Market over the past couple of years. Alongside regular coffee, the menu has Zarda, the traditional Siwan tea that's rarely served properly outside people's homes.

It's still building a following, a little over a hundred followers on Instagram as of this writing, but regulars already talk about two things first: the fortress view and the tea.

Good to know

Try the Zarda, a traditional Siwan tea, instead of defaulting to coffee.
It's small and new, so hours can shift, best to check its Instagram before a special trip.

A lovely cafe in the centre of Siwa. Had the date and cinnamon crepe which was amazing!!!!! My daughter had the chocolate which she also enjoyed. Wide drinks menu. I enjoyed the lemon basil. Again, amazing. Also, nice coffee. Very friendly owner and staff. Well worth a visit.
