Zarda Cafe

A market-square cafe built around date-palm trunks
Zarda sits right on Market Square in a building held together with date palm trunks instead of standard timber, the detail most visitors mention before the food even arrives. The menu is traditional Siwan, cooked to order rather than kept under a heat lamp, and the cafe takes its name from the local tea culture it's built around.
It hasn't racked up many reviews yet, but the ones it has all say the same thing: fresh food and a setting unlike anything else on the square.
Good to know
- The building itself is worth a look, date palm trunks hold the structure together.
- It's small, only a handful of reviews so far, but every one of them is a five-star.

Zarda Cafe is an absolute must-visit if you are in Siwa! We stopped by during our trip, and it exceeded our expectations in every single way. The location is perfect—situated right in the heart of the market square, making it the ideal spot to relax and take in the authentic vibe of the oasis. The service is wonderfully attentive, but what truly sets this cafe apart is the unmatched hospitality. The owner is genuinely one of the nicest and most accommodating people we’ve met. He went completely out of his way to make us feel welcome, sitting down to share amazing tips and local information about the best spots to explore around Siwa. He even generously offered his help and services for absolutely anything we might need during our time in the city. It’s incredibly rare to find someone who cares so deeply about their guests' overall experience. If you want a fantastic spot with great vibes, top-tier service, and a host who embodies the true welcoming spirit of Siwa, look no further than Zarda Cafe. Highly, highly recommend!

I came from Japan and had Egyptian food. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the chicken and olive dish. I'd love to come back.

The restaurant is located in a small lane of the village center. Its deco is quite okay. Foods are okay, however we waited for a long time because they went out buying the ingredients after we ordered.

It’s a cozy little spot particularly at night with the lights on. They made our group a huge homemade bone broth vegetable soup, which was perfect after a big day out in the sun and salt pools, very comforting. The coffee is good too, dropped by a few times in the morning for a nice Turkish coffee with milk. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, nice food. A good spot to visit in Siwa.

Our dear friend who owns this beautifully quaint cafe made sure we were well taken care of and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend coming here and meeting the owner Mohammad also known as the desert fox 😄
