Suva's first indie bookshop, built for Pacific writers

Skip the stationers. This is the first Suva shop built around books from Fiji and the wider Pacific, new and secondhand, at 23 MacGregor Road.

It works as a reading room as much as a shop, with a book club and an annual reading retreat called the Shade Sanctuary. Closed Sundays.

Good to know

  • Closed Sundays and public holidays, unlike most cafes nearby.

Great selection of new and pre-loved books, in a cute little cottage. Will order in for you if they don’t have in stock.

Clean and very friendly and helpful staff. We hired the middle room for about 10 of us and enjoyed the space

I Highly recommend this bookstore, it is one of the bests in Suva. They sell a range of books at great prices and other cute stuff. The interior is beautiful, cozy and comfy. A real treasure trove for bookworms.

Finally, a real book shop in Suva. Unlike all of the other book shops in Suva, where there are more stationery than books, Baka Books actually have a wide range of books – fiction, non-fiction and even children's books. They also have a good selection of pre-loved books at very affordable prices. The atmosphere is very cosy and welcoming. You can comfortably browse the shelves and even sit down in one of the many seats to take a look at books you're interested in. I bought two books on my first visit – I will definitely be back again.
