An antiquarian bookshop for history, philosophy and design nerds

Gezelius took over the spot another antiquarian shop had just vacated on Hämeenpuisto, one of Tampere's best-known streets. It's the Tampere outpost of Helsinki's Antikvariaatti Pufendorf, and it keeps the same non-fiction focus: history, philosophy, art and design up front, with the rarer bibliophile finds kept separate.

The shelves double as event space, with author talks slotted in between the stacks. Gezelius also joins its Helsinki sibling at the Tampere antiquarian book fair every autumn.

Good to know

Open 10:30 to 18:00 on weekdays and 10:30 to 16:00 on Saturdays.
Ask about the bibliophile rarities, they are kept apart from the open shelves.

Very friendly owner, who welcomed the visitor. I immediately felt good. They also respected that I wanted to wander around. There was something to read. The books were categorized in a customer-friendly way. It's more convenient to wander around and look when you stick to the map. The selection included novels, non-fiction books, comics, and records.
