A 200-seat terrace inside an old observatory on Vartiovuori hill, open weekends only.

Cosma opened April 30, 2026, inside the old observatory building on Vartiovuori, the hill above Turku's cathedral. The terrace seats around 200, using a hilltop view the observatory itself never had a reason to.

It only runs weekends, from 4pm, so it feels more like an event than a regular stop. The setting alone has made it one of the most photographed openings in Turku this year.

The drink menu includes basic classics, but also their own ideas and cocktails. The atmosphere is cheerful, but tight, especially if you want to sit on the terrace, the music is playing and loud. The toilets are terrible!!!!! One for disabled people, one for women and one for men, everyone queues in the same line. It would be worth changing to unisex toilets so no one has to pass, and no one is embarrassed if they have to use the toilets of the opposite sex in an emergency.

The metal fence surrounding the terrace almost fell on us in the wind. It's worth making sure that doesn't happen again. It was lovely to sit under the siren bushes, although the music was quite loud so we had to shout to our tablemates. The toilet ran out of hand towels, and there was no one free to inform. So there's nothing to eat here (unless you count olives and almonds...), but there's plenty to drink. Great location.
