L'Opuscule almost closed for good. Instead it came back bigger: a 140-square-meter shop on Boulevard Ledru-Rollin holding more than 20,000 titles, paired with its own publishing operation under the same roof.

That combination is the point. This isn't just a bookstore that survived a scare, it's betting that editor and bookseller belong in the same space. Open Tuesday to Saturday.

One of the best bookstores in Montpellier, the owner is passionate, the place is very large, and they really have everything, even gift ideas and smart home devices (lamps, speakers). I went there for the crime and romance collections and spent two hours choosing! Highly recommended.

An unusual and independent bookstore where books sit alongside contemporary objects. New releases, classics, poetry, thrillers, graphic novels... beautiful books... and this wine/book gift set, perfect for giving or treating yourself.
