Puchi

A wood-fired bistro where every French classic meets open flame

Step into Puchi and the first thing you notice is the smell: charred wood and butter. The kitchen runs entirely on what the owners call a brasier gourmand, so classic French dishes get cooked over flame instead of on a stove.

Lunch formulas and weekend brunch stay simple and homemade. It's one of the few independent spots in Saint-Louis open on Sunday, near Cathédrale Saint-Louis and a short walk from Versailles-Rive-Gauche station.

Good to know

  • Open Sunday, unlike most independent restaurants in Versailles.

A truly wonderful restaurant with exceptionally friendly staff. They speak both English and French and are very helpful when it comes to recommendations and advice. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. The coffee was great as well. The atmosphere is beautiful, peaceful, and very relaxing, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. Without a doubt, 5 out of 5 stars. I would gladly come back!

I was at Puchi today with a group of friends after we visited the Grand Castle of Versailles in the early afternoon. We were greeted very warmly from the start. The service was very friendly and the young staff spoke great English. The food was outstanding. The meat was seared on a hot griddle and had amazing aroma and all of the sides were handled with great care and not just like a filler. (I especially enjoyed the rough-grain-moutarde vinaigrette with the rocket salad) I had the pork and my friend the duck and I shall say it was by far the best food I had on this 4-days-France-trip. I know people will probably not take the detour from Paris to eat here, but if you are looking for something real to eat in Versailles (and are not satisfied with the overpriced sandwiches at the cafees in the castle) then look no further. Extra credit goes to the totaly chill atmosphere near the Cathedrale and the heavenly lemon sorbet. Again, I want to praise the lovely, a bit shy but totally adorable Asian young server who made our meal so much better. Warm wishes and hope to come back some day. Jakob

At Puchi, the surprise is delightful and the pleasure immediate. We begin with a beetroot dish handled with precision, simple in appearance yet full of depth. This is followed by a perfectly executed chicken, tender, accurately cooked, without fuss but rich in flavor. The profiterole rounds things off on a indulgent note, generous without being heavy, just as it should be. Meanwhile, my sister opts for white asparagus paired with salmon, delicate and well balanced, accompanied by a carefully crafted cocktail, both elegant and refreshing. Service deserves special mention: a remarkable waitress, attentive, warm, and professional without stiffness. All of this unfolds in a clean, well-kept setting with a pleasant atmosphere. An address that doesn’t try too hard, and precisely for that reason, succeeds. One to remember, and to return to.

I've never said "oh my god" as many times as I have when I had dinner here. Never understood having wine with food but this restaurant made me a convert. Simple but hearty French dining, humble ingredients elevated to sheer gastronomic joy.

Some of the best food I have had in Paris having lived here for 3 years. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough! Very big portions as well, and the vegetables perfectly cooked. We had a formule (which includes entry main dish and dessert for 27.50€) and it was so worth it.
