Cake, coffee and a gallery in one room

Coffee and cake share the counter with paintings by Katharina Hückstädt here, a mix that gives this Dominikanerstraße spot a different feel than the bakery cafés around it. The walls change as much as the menu.

It's small, so word got around fast, the owner calls the early response overwhelming. Go on a weekday afternoon if you want a table without a wait, and skip Tuesdays, it's closed.

Average coffee but amazing location. Sitting outside in the sun in historic Bamberg and just enjoy life go by in the morning was worth it. The place do get busy later in the day.

Despite its excellent location, Café KÄT unfortunately failed to impress us. The staff is overwhelmed and disorganized. The fact that they don't accept card payments is unacceptable in 2026. The so-called "garden" is a fenced-off gravel area in the pedestrian zone, which shows a lack of care for the business. The cake was delicious, but otherwise, the owners have a lot of room for improvement.

Stopped here for Kaffee und kuchen after doing a self guided tour of Bamberg. Staff were very friendly, team and coffee were lovely and the cake was delicious.

Bit mixed feelings about this place. The atmosphere is really nice and the cinnamon bun delicious, but the crumble pie was flavorless - and beware, it’s cash only so one of us ended up having to find an ATM after we had eaten.

A wonderful atmosphere, outstanding homemade (!!!) cakes, and great coffee – this is our new favorite spot for coffee and cake in Bamberg! Within sight of the Lower Town Hall Bridge (near the Historic Bridge Town Hall), this café exudes a coffeehouse atmosphere unique to Bamberg. It's filled with art and attention to detail, and offers seating where you can relax and watch the hustle and bustle in the historic old town streets. The selection of cakes, tarts, and other pastries (including sensationally moist cinnamon rolls) is impressive – especially considering that the owner bakes everything herself (or, in some cases, with the help of friends). Such quality is unparalleled! Thank you for the lovely afternoon!
