A Paris bag label's first German shop, chosen ahead of Berlin and Munich

The fit-out follows the brand's own playbook rather than anything local: pale plaster, curved walls, bags spaced out and displayed like objects instead of piled as stock. Hamburg got the nod before either Berlin or Munich, which says something about where Polène thinks its German customers actually are.

The Mothiron siblings built Polène almost entirely on direct sales and rarely open new shops, so their first German address, over 300 square meters on Neuer Wall, is a real event.

Closed Sundays; Saturday trading stops at 18:00 while the rest of the week runs to 19:00.

I visited a few times ahead of my birthday as the bag i was looking for was out of stock. Once back, the team contacted me and I picked it up in store, along a few other leather goods i got embossed. Anastasia, Anna and Noy were lovely and walked me through every process. The customer service was top notch, and this is not a given in any German store. Thank you again to the Hamburg team. I will definitely choose the in store experience over the online one for my next purchase, it made a world of a difference.

I had a fantastic experience at Polene. The store itself is beautifully designed and I'm so impressed. What really stood out, though, was the service. Mellisa was incredibly knowledgeable and go the extra mile. It’s rare to find a place where the product, atmosphere, and service are all 10/10. Highly recommended!

Had a really nice experience at Polène with Lea. She was super friendly and helpful, and made browsing feel easy and comfortable with no pressure. We didn’t end up buying anything, but the service was great.
