Heidelberg's Altstadt dance floor is back, after five years dark

Tangente reopened on April 30, 2026 under new operator Sezai Uzun, reviving a Kettengasse address that anchored Altstadt nightlife since the 1970s before going dark for nearly five years. New investors refreshed the interior and drinks menu while keeping the late-night DJ format.

Doors open late Thursday through Saturday, continuing its run as one of the old town's longest-standing dance floors.

We stopped by Tangente for coffee at lunchtime and were absolutely delighted. The coffee was delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxed and modern. Especially on these hot days, the excellent air conditioning is a real plus 👍🏻 – it stays nice and cool inside, making it easy to sit comfortably. The service was also very friendly and attentive; we immediately felt at ease. Overall, a fantastic new bar that's definitely worth a visit, even during the day. We'll definitely be back! 😊
