Vietnamese street food meets proper cocktails

Tiny Thao pairs a compact Vietnamese street-food menu with a real cocktail list, a combination you rarely see at Konstanz's other Vietnamese spots. It sits on Wollmatinger Straße, north of the tourist-heavy old town.

The hours give it away: closed for lunch on Mondays, open through the afternoon lull only midweek. This is a bar that also cooks, not the other way round, and Wollmatingen barely had a sit-down restaurant before it showed up.

I spent a nice weekend close to Lake Konstanz with some friends and we were looking for some Vietnamese, and luckily we found this place. The pho was my favourite, it really felt authentic as you would find it in Vietnam. The atmosphere was great and the staff friendly. Highly recommend!!!

I'd like to preface that my partner is southern Vietnamese born and raised and we often struggle to find some "proper" Vietnamese cuisine for her to enjoy. Having said this - this IS the real deal. Great food, authentic in taste, creatively elevated in presentation. It is a bit on the pricier side, but the ornate environment, attentive service and, as mentioned before, excellent food make up for it. The wife loved it and that is the highest praise I could thus far bestow upon a Vietnamese restaurant around the Bodensee region. And I have been to a lot. As usual for Konstanz, parking is a bit tricky. Check the side streets close by.

Really nice restaurant with very good food offers! We took a Cha Gio, the spring roll filled with meat, they were really crunchy and tasty. And then we took Chu Dung Wok Rice with shrimp and Ente Satay. Both of them were really good, I really enjoyed how the duck was cooked: it was crispy but not dry. I recommend taking the Crispy Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream, it’s really good! The service was a bit clumsy.

This is a very special place. It takes you to Vietnam as soon as you cross the door. The food and drinks were delicious and the service was perfect always with a smile. The deserts were as good as the main plates 🥰
