The name means sweet and salty, and that's the whole menu: breakfast rolls, pan dishes and a rotating list of specials that swing either way, served from morning to evening. Fifty to sixty seats mean you can usually just walk in and sit down.

Neustraße is packed with boutiques, not cafés, so a proper sit-down breakfast here stands out. There's a sister branch in nearby Schweich, but this is the one worth the stop if you're already browsing the street.

Delicious breakfasts, but the service is slow — you have to wait quite a while for someone to take your order and then for the food to arrive. It’s also impossible to sit outside because of the wasps.

We stopped here for lunch, having discounted a few other eateries nearby. The welcome was warm and the food was very good. The French Toast Burger mit Mac& Cheese was excellent and great value. The Shakshuka was equally nice and very tasty. Both dishes were freshly cooked, arrived hot and nicely presented.
