Cafenio by day, taverna and cocktail bar by night, in the village Santorini skips
Vothonas is the village most Santorini itineraries never bother with, which is exactly the point. Vothonaki runs as a traditional cafenio by day, with a bakery and concept store on the side, then flips into a taverna and cocktail bar once the sun drops.
Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays bring "OPA" party nights, live music and Greek meze from 8:30pm. Fira is fifteen minutes away by car, worth the detour once every caldera-view restaurant starts tasting the same.

The food was excellent and is the main reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. We ordered the salad with potatoes and eggs, fresh bread with olive oil, and the grilled octopus. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and very well prepared. Unfortunately, the service left us with an uncomfortable impression. From the beginning, the waiter seemed to judge us based on our appearance. We were dressed casually in sporty clothes, but neat and appropriate for a relaxed dinner. His attitude felt distant and somewhat unfriendly, and it only seemed to improve slightly as the meal went on. Of course, this was just our impression, but it affected the overall experience. There was also very little interaction from the staff. Nobody asked whether we enjoyed the food, and when we left, there wasn't even a goodbye or eye contact. The outdoor seating is on steps leading downhill, and some of the tables felt unstable. During our meal, many people were walking between the tables after a religious service, which made the setting feel less comfortable and less private. It's a shame because the kitchen clearly does an excellent job. With warmer, more attentive service and a more comfortable seating arrangement, this could easily have been a much higher rating.

Amazing place hidden next to a small church where you have plenty of quiet. The cuisine is just delicious with every plate to be astonishing. Affordable prices for an island like Santorini. And finally the owners, Andreas and Niko are very kind, communicative and passionate for what they are doing. Must visit if you search for a taste paradise.

We loved this place so much, we went twice! We stayed nearby and highly recommend this area away from busy Fira and Oia. The restaurant is updated with traditional Greek vibes. The trendy bar and store are located around the corner. The food is tapas style and all incredible. The menu changes based on season and is written in a chalkboard. We enjoyed the house white wine and delicious hand crafted cocktails. Our favorite dish was the veal tail pasta. The octopus with fava was a cold dish and very tender. Giant beans and homemade sausages are traditional dishes that I always enjoy. The pesto salad is a different version of Greek salad with tomatoes, pickles, bread, onion, goat cheese and a pesto dressing. The orange cake is so flavorful. Yum!

The food here is amazing! Tapas style works great, so you can try many dishes. The meatballs are the best I have ever had, but really every dish is tasty. The atmosphere is very authentic, and best at night. If your hesitant, ask the gentleman working for recommendations. He will steer you in the right direction. This is where you should eat while in Santorini!

Lovely meze food, we had 4 dishes for the two of us; fish, meat and two vegetable dishes, they were fresh and really tasty, would highly recommend. Wine was local, sold by the bottle or the glass, we'll be back again before the end of our holiday!
