Skip the instant stuff. Coin Capois pours coffee grown in the mountains south of Cap-Haïtien, real beans in a city where imported instant coffee is still the norm. The counter doubles as a bakery: donuts, raisin bread, pain au chocolat, banana bread, cupcakes.

It shuts by evening instead of chasing the boulevard's dinner-and-DJ crowd, which makes it a breakfast stop, not a night out. Locals grab a coffee here before work, not after.

• Go before 9am for the donuts; they sell out.

  This is a cozy spot for quality food that's made with care. The staff operates with a family-oriented manner. I've been coming for years and I can say that Coin Capois never fails, always tidy and welcoming. A breath of fresh air within the hectic city.

  I don’t tend to leave reviews often but I had to. Coin Capois is a nice bistro like restaurant, family friendly. The food is really good and they have great customer service. Whoever decides to visit Cap Haitian, this is a “to not be missed” spot. You would not regret it!
