Kékfrankos and sparkling wine, straight from the family that makes it
Taschner is a family winery on Balfi út, at the eastern edge of Sopron where the vineyards begin. The tasting room and vinotéka are open to visitors, and Kurt István Taschner runs the tastings himself, switching between Hungarian, German, English and Croatian.
Sopron is red wine country, and Kékfrankos is the grape behind it, so this is the source rather than a bar that just stocks the bottle. Groups can book a sit-down tasting for up to around sixty people.

Led by the owner, we first toured the cellar, then sat out on the terrace in the spring afternoon sun and continued the tasting there. Expertise, intelligence and fine wines. We drank white, red and finally a drop of pálinka.
