Natural wine and brunch from the Myricae chefs

Skip the tasting menu next door and grab a glass instead. Ombrae is the looser sibling to Myricae on Via del Corso, run by the same chefs, Nicola Stella and Domenico Paolicelli, but built around natural and small producer wines poured by the glass alongside brunch plates.

The two spots share a block now, coffee in the morning, wine late into the evening, and regulars treat it as one long stretch of street rather than two separate stops.

This is my umpteenth return to this place, and yet another wonderful welcome. I was once again surprised by the excellent food and wine selection. I love the atmosphere here, undoubtedly helped by its location in the heart of Matera.

We were shopping nearby and I found this lounge bar using Google maps. So glad we did. The proprietor was lovely and very very helpful. We were only going to have drinks, however, he took time to explain the bar menu and the pasta of the day. We had one of each, ragu and a rocket pasta with almonds. Both were delicious. He also brought some snacks and a delicious baked loaf of bread and olive oil. We were so impressed we’d stayed for another round of cocktails. The only reason we didn’t give 5⭐️ for atmosphere is we we’re the only ones sat outside. This is a great shame as although it’s off the Main Street the food and drinks are excellent. Highly recommended

Go! Go! Go! The quality is incredible. Any dish on the menu (and trust me, I've tried almost everything) will leave you incredibly satisfied. The wine and beverage selection is impeccable. The staff is very kind and helpful, ready to satisfy all your requests and curiosities.
