A Kinugasa roaster's coffee, made for the walk to the shrine

Skip the sit-down cafe and grab this one to go. The beans come from a roaster based in Kinugasa on the Yokosuka side of the peninsula, and this stand-up counter on Komachi-dori is its first outpost in Kamakura.

Nothing gets roasted here, the beans travel in from the Kinugasa base, but the coffee still beats most of the strip. Everything on the menu stays under ¥1,000, priced more like a commuter coffee than specialty-grade beans deserve.

Located in Kamakura, a fiercely competitive area for coffee shops, this shop boasts a lovely, compact yet calming interior. They offer a wide variety of beans, and the staff are happy to explain anything you're unsure about. The lineup seems to change gradually, so it's especially recommended for those who enjoy light-roast specialty coffee. ☕️

This specialty coffee shop is located on a side street off Komachi-dori, about a 4-5 minute walk from Kamakura Station. The owner carefully selects and serves lightly roasted beans, and on this day I had a hot Vietnamese Yellow Catuai Honey. It was a wonderful cup, with a rich, full-bodied coffee flavor without any sharp acidity, and a distinct sweetness. I enjoyed it in the shop, and as the temperature cooled, the sweetness seemed to intensify, making it perfect for strolling around Kamakura with a cup of coffee in hand. The one-of-a-kind cup, made by an artisan, was also very nice.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Kamakura Station, this cafe has no tables but offers bench seating that can accommodate about 3 people inside and 3 outside. It's a great place to relax and enjoy your time. They have a wide selection of coffee beans, around 10 varieties, so you can choose according to your mood. I ordered an iced coffee made with Panama Geisha beans. It had a gentle, tea-like aftertaste and was very refreshing and delicious! I heard that the hot version tastes similar to green tea, so I'm curious and will try that next time. They also serve donuts. Payment is accepted via cashless payment and cash.

It had a flavor I'd never experienced before, and I discovered the deliciousness of light roast coffee. The atmosphere was calm and comfortable.
