Real shimauta, live, no cover before 8pm

A sanshin player works the small stage most nights here, playing shimauta, island folk songs, instead of the pop covers other tourist bars default to. It's an izakaya first, Okinawan plates and all, but the music is why you stay past one drink.

Sets start around 8pm and run in short rounds all evening. Seats near the stage go fast, so get there by 7:30 if you actually want to watch the player's hands.
