Fab Ace sits behind the Bairiki shopping complex, and it's one of the few bars in the area open and busy most nights. That's no small claim on an island where licensing hours run strict and most places shut by ten or eleven. Karaoke is a regular fixture here, not an occasional gimmick.

Tarawa's nightlife mostly runs through bars attached to guesthouses and motels, not a strip of freestanding venues. A spot like Fab Ace, with its own name and its own crowd, is worth knowing before you land.
