Garden coffee in a 19th-century house on the road to Vat Phou

Boupha Garden Café sits in a 19th-century house in Ban Vat Thong, with a garden shady enough to sit through midday heat. It's right in front of Souchitra guesthouse, on the road most people take out to Vat Phou.

The menu covers breakfast, coffee and a handful of Lao dishes, with vegan and gluten-free options that are hard to find elsewhere in town. Closed Mondays.

Good to know

  • It's directly on the road out to Vat Phou, worth a stop on the way rather than a special trip.
  • Closed Mondays.

This was a very expensive restaurant but very good. I had a Laos sausage with this red chili paste and sticky rice. It was absolutely delicious and I would love to have that again. The mango ice cream milkshake also stood out to me. It was breathtakingly tasty but I think the Laotian sausage was out of this world. We also had loaded fries and this was a must. The bacon and seasoning tasted so good. The garlic was so good.

Really good food and beautiful garden ! It's one of my favorite spots in Champasak ! Try the tom khen, the curry and the brownie shake !

Loved this place!! Beautiful garden with a very peaceful vibe and amazing food! The family who runs it was also very sweet. I ordered an iced cappuccino and the nem khao. The coffee was very good, but the nem khao (a Lao crispy rice salad with pork) was one of the best meals I had in all of Laos. If you’re considering this place do yourself a favor and give it a try. They also had some very nice postcards.

I do not remember when was the last time I got something that looked literally like its picture on a menu. This was delightful - place is cosy, staff is very polite and friendly. Food is delish - recommend the pancakes and lemon iced tea 11/10 - very happy with our visit - thank you ✨
