Daolin Restaurant

★ 4.3 · 246 reviews Pakse Opened Opening date unknown

Pakse's busiest table, right by Dao Hueng Market

Daolin pulls a bigger crowd than any other kitchen in Pakse, unusual for a city this size. The menu spans Lao and wider Southeast Asian cooking instead of sticking to one lane, and the dish that shows up most in visitor photos is larp nam tok, a northern-style minced meat salad served with sticky rice.

It sits on South Road near Dao Hueng Market, right in the city's daytime commerce rather than the quieter riverside strip newer cafes prefer. That spot does some of the work: it's an easy stop between market errands and a Bolaven Plateau day trip.

Good to know

  • Order the larp nam tok, the dish most visitors mention by name.
  • It's a short walk from Dao Hueng Market, useful between errands and a Bolaven day trip.

Absolutely delicious food! The portions are really generous, so come hungry. I had the amazing Lao sausages and they were full of flavor, perfectly seasoned and just so good. I also tried the duck noodles, and the duck was incredibly tender, literally melting in my mouth. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the dishes. It was so good that I actually came back the next day for more.

Large restaurant offering Chinese, Lao and some Western dishes. Their menu is predominantly non-veg, but some interesting vegan and vegetarian options are available. Staff speaks some English and seems knowledgeable on what Vegan food is. The 2 dishes I ordered were very tasty and satisfying. Felt clean and serving sizes were generous. A bit pricey as in tourist area, but not too bad. Expect 5-8 dollars per person for a full meal.

"The restaurant offers many delicious dishes, specializing in a blend of Laotian and Vietnamese cuisine (because the owners are of Vietnamese descent). It is conveniently located in the center of Pakse. The food is great, and the restaurant is clean. It's highly recommended for a culinary experience when visiting Champasak."

Fantastic restaurant, very centrally located serving great food - from local Lao food to Thai and even more Western dishes! Highly recommend the spring rolls and all the Lao dishes! Came on first day and again on last evening! Also, fantastic service! Especially Ms Phoyphaylinh!
