Cappuccino with live jazz on the side
Sink into a sofa at Kūūk and stay longer than planned. Jazz and guitar sets play while you work through a cappuccino, Elga Grinvalde paintings on the walls around you. The apple and pecan pie is the standing recommendation.
It scales both ways: a window seat with a book, or a full corner of friends sprawled on the sofas. A summer terrace stretches it onto Dzirnavu iela. Riga has louder venues and better-known cafés, but few sit this comfortably in between.

This little coffee and pastry shop was only a couple of blocks from our Airbnb, and it was everything we wanted. Their croissant was soft, flaky and buttery. Their pastries burst with fruit flavor and crumbly goodness. Their cappuccinos and lattes were rich and smooth in the European way that American espresso drinks just can't seem to match. The indoor area is nicely appointed, but we chose to sit outside in the beautiful morning, enjoying our breakfast and watching Riga go by. My wife, daughter and I went there the first morning we were in Riga, and later in the week, my wife and daughter went there again for coffees. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit and avoid the franchised/corporate Costa and Caffeine coffee houses.

Had the best breakfast. I had green Mango ice tea and sourbread with smoke salmon, avocado and poached eggs. Absolutely delicious. Also I liked that there is seating outside and the atmosphere inside is lovely.

We stopped by KŪŪK at Dzirnavu iela 66A, Riga, to grab something sweet for tea at home, and it turned out to be a wonderful little treat for the evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They gladly recommended the most popular desserts and even shared their personal favorites, which made the experience feel warm and genuine. A big thank you for the excellent service and positive attitude. We chose the lemon dessert, mango dessert, almond croissant, and a cinnamon bun, and honestly, everything was absolutely delicious. The mango dessert was perfectly balanced, pleasantly sweet without being overwhelming. The lemon dessert had that ideal sweet-and-sour combination, refreshing, delicate, and full of flavor. The cinnamon bun was soft, fresh, and incredibly comforting. And the almond croissant was beautifully crispy on the outside, rich and flavorful inside. Exactly how a good croissant should be. Everything tasted fresh, well-made, and prepared with care. If you’re looking for delicious desserts and genuinely warm service in Riga, KŪŪK is definitely worth visiting. ⚡
