Riga's only English bookshop, with a bar attached

Second-hand English books, a bar, and a calendar full of concerts, readings and small exhibitions. Ex Libris is the only English-language bookshop in Riga, and the courtyard setting at Dzirnavu iela 51 makes it worth lingering.

Stock is donated and keeps turning over, so last month's shelf is already gone. A second corner opened at the Veldze creative factory in 2026, but the Dzirnavu courtyard original is the one worth planning an evening around.

What a great space through a gate and a little set back from the main street. It’s got indoor and outdoor seating, nooks to explore filled with books, and great coffee options. Highly recommend!

Tucked away in a backyard, great to discover what is on their shelves, with an impeccably prepared Aperol Spritz (actually two each)!!
