Slow coffee from Veracruz cloud-forest beans, inside Escarola
Grana opened in October 2025 inside Escarola, a multi-use space on Positos across from Museo Casa Diego Rivera, right as Veracruz came through as the guest state of that year's Cervantino festival. The cafe sources TOM beans grown in Veracruz's cloud forest and runs them through a barista bar built for slow drinking rather than a quick order to go.
It sits between Positos and the underground Calle Subterránea, in a building that also holds a bakery, a pizza kitchen, and a gallery under the same Escarola name. The pitch is unhurried reading and long conversations rather than laptops and headphones, which puts it at odds with most of the center's faster coffee counters.

What are delightful find after a day of wandering and shopping in the consignment stores and little boutiques. I had the Mediterranean plate which came with two enormous and gorgeous poached eggs. The eggs reserved over a bed of hummus.

Morning coffe here is my favourite experience. The barista makes a fab brew. I am always met with a generous welcome. The trees and EVERYTHING about the environment is stunning and uplifting. This place is a must visit.
