Congee Bear

Real congee, and you don't need Chinatown for it
Congee spots in Yangon are mostly streetside stands in Chinatown, so Congee Bear is a rare find on Sanchaung Street. Bowls run Ks5,000 to Ks10,000, built on chicken, pork or prawn, with sides of ei kyar kwae fried dough sticks, balachaung and pickled mustard.
Not into congee? Set menus of rice with a choice of protein and vegetables have you covered. It delivers within Sanchaung.

The decor wasn't fancy, but it felt very comfortable inside. The soy milk was freshly made, light and delicious. The service was excellent; if you didn't eat much of any of the dishes, they would kindly ask if there was anything you didn't like and offer to make something else. The porridge in the third picture, I don't know its name, wasn't very sweet but was delicious, and it was a complimentary dish from the restaurant—very thoughtful!

The general feeling was a let down. Comfort food at its basic. It's just ok. Three stars is being generous. The white fungus soup with the goji berries, tasted nice but there was a black hair in it. The congee was ok, peanuts were stale. It's not like the standard I saw in Shenzhen.
