A once-empty building on Hage Geingob Street, back in business as a local kitchen

The building on Hage Geingob Street sat closed for years before Rustic Spoon reopened it in 2024. Locals still mention that reopening in reviews, a farm-style main building that had gone quiet and is now doing steady trade again. The menu keeps it simple: panko chicken, sliders, and a handful of Italian and American plates cooked without much fuss.

It sits on the Main Road, an easy stop for anyone passing through rather than staying, and the secure parking in the courtyard behind it is enough reason for road-trippers to load up before the long stretch north. In 2024 they logged a 500-cupcake day, a sign of how much of the business now runs on baking alongside the mains.

  Quick stop here for lunch on the way back to Windhoek. Was lovely and a quiet safe corner in town. Our waiter was lovely and told us the most incredible story about the termite heaps around the area.

  Had a fantastic lunch at Rustic Spoon Urban Eatery. Great food, friendly service, and a really relaxed atmosphere. Ronaldo’s story about the termites was a highlight and made the experience even more memorable. Definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through.
