Layaa
★ 4.5 · 60 reviews Kathmandu Opened 2024
Cocktails named in Nepali, not translated into it
Layaa is Santosh Faiia's follow-up to BlackBird, and it pushes further into local naming and local ingredients. Drinks carry Nepali names because the ideas behind them are Nepali, not because someone dressed up a foreign one.
East meets west is the stated brief. In practice it reads as a bar that has stopped apologizing for where it is. Open three to ten, Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays.

Good lounge to pregame before a night out in Thamel. Drinks arent cheap and can get a bit smokey on the inside sometimes though.

Layaa Lounge and Bar is easily one of the best bars in town, stylish ambiance, great vibes, and a perfect spot for a relaxed yet premium night out. The music, crowd, and setting make it stand out from the rest in Kathmandu’s nightlife scene.

Cool place, english speaking stuff, very friendly and ready to help. Had a great chat with one of the battenders. Might be a bit pricey for nepal, but worth it imo.

Great music, high energy, and a solid young crowd. Unlike most lounges, there’s actually ample space to move around and dance without feeling squeezed. The highlight? The super chilled beer served in a wine glass—it’s a total vibe and stays cold until the last drop. Definitely worth a visit!

Good place around thamel to try variety of drinks. Food quantity could be better. Staffs is helpful and kind.
