Morobe Bakery keeps it simple: bread, hot pies, scones, donuts and cakes made fresh through the day on 4th Street. It's the default bakery stop in a city that doesn't have many.

The coffee is the surprise. Regulars name it over the actual cafes nearby, which says something from a bakery counter. Cinnamon rolls are a recent addition to the pastry case worth checking for.

I visited Morobe Bakery in Lae a couple of years ago and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and service. The standout item for me was their ‘chunky steak pie’. The pastry was flaky and buttery while the filling was hearty and full of flavor. It was a great comfort food on a rainy day. I also tried their doughnuts, which were freshly made and absolutely delicious. To wash it all down, I ordered a cup of their coffee, which was strong and aromatic, a perfect pick-me-up. The ambiance of the bakery was also noteworthy. They had a clean and spacious seating area where customers can sit down and enjoy their meals. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure that all our needs were met. The bakery was also conveniently located in the heart of Lae, making it an ideal stop for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. Overall, I would highly recommend Morobe Bakery to anyone looking for a delicious meal in Lae. The quality of their food, coupled with their welcoming ambiance and attentive staff, make for a wonderful dining experience. I will definitely be returning to this bakery for my favourite ‘chunky steak pie’.
