Fire cooking that gave Guia its first real restaurant
Guia is known for roadside piri-piri shacks, not sit-down dining, so a 120-seat fire kitchen from Vila Vita Parc is a real shift. The live grill anchors the room, split over two floors, one at ground level and one below.
The menu skews Mediterranean rather than strictly Portuguese: seafood and meat cooked straight over the flame, plates meant for sharing, and a wine list that ranges well beyond the Algarve. For chicken-shack country, this is a different register entirely.
Good to know
- Go for the grilled fish over the meat cuts, it's what the live grill does best here.

We went to Ciro Restaurant last Saturday and we really enjoyed it. There are a number of rooms, inside and outside under their terrace. The rooms link together well. The service was excellent. We sat inside and we were able to see the 4 guys working in the kitchen, which very interesting. Our bill was just under €100. That included couvert, which included a homemade loaf cut into 3, smoked butter, goat cheese with honey and Baba Ganoush. My wife had the catch of the day which was a fillet of corvina and it was Chicken breast meal for me. We had an extra portion of the triple cooked chips, which were fantastic. We finished with ice cream. My wife had a G&T and a glass of Rose'. I had a zero beer. I would definitely recommend it for a special occasion.

Finally, we were able to book online after trying several times to book by telephone that was never picked up. The sensitive conversion of small Algarve cottages has yielded a stylish setting that blends traditional with modern. Unfortunately, the smell from the nearby stream were easily detectable from our outdoor table. The service was good; however, lacking some finesse, such as warming the brandy glasses. The couvert provided excellent bread, including a gluten free option, butter, goat cheese and a smoky babaganoush. The starter, mackerel with a Romesco sauce, was not successful. The Iberian pork was well cooked and served with savoury rice. Our tomahawk steak was cooked perfectly, but it was not tender, the beef should probably have been aged more. The chips were well prepared, if you like the thick version rather than crispier frites. The carrots were interesting, including unusual varieties, as did the tomato salad. The few dessert options were not tempting, so none of us had dessert. The wine list was good but overpriced. What was most disappointing was a lack of originality. The online menu that originally tempted us had some interesting options that had disappeared. Did we enjoy it, yes. Will we return soon, no.

★★★★★ Ciro is one of those new places you discover and immediately feel is going to become a hit. Set in the heart of Guia and created by Vila Vita Parc, the restaurant is beautiful without feeling pretentious, warm, relaxed and incredibly well designed. The concept is Mediterranean cooking centred around fire, with excellent ingredients and dishes that feel clean, honest and full of flavour rather than unnecessarily complicated. What surprised me most was the balance between quality and price. Knowing the Vila Vita background, you might expect a much more expensive experience, but Ciro manages to deliver a genuinely high-level restaurant experience at prices that still feel very reasonable for what you are getting. The food was excellent, the presentation beautiful, the atmosphere relaxed and the whole place has been created with enormous attention to detail. A fantastic new addition to Guia and, in my opinion, a restaurant that is going to become very popular very quickly. Absolutely worth discovering. We will be back. 100% and many times. Will bring my other Daughter and husband next week. ❤️
