Saudi Arabia's first W is a KAFD tower with a neon-lit lounge

W finally landed in Saudi Arabia, and it picked the loudest possible spot: a tower inside the King Abdullah Financial District. Marriott signed the deal in May 2024, and less than two years later 210 rooms opened under the brand's usual neon-and-music playbook.

This isn't Riyadh's marble and chandelier crowd. Interiors lean into bold color and Saudi pop culture, a W Lounge replaces the formal front desk, and seven food venues include the Japanese spot Beni and a second called Sira. Surrounded by bankers and startup staff, it works as an after-work hangout as much as a hotel.

Good to know

The house restaurants Beni (Japanese) and Sira draw a KAFD crowd of their own, so book them even if you're staying upstairs.
Ask for a high floor: the whole point of the location is looking down on the financial district's skyline.

I stayed at W Riyadh in KAFD to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and the experience was truly exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the reception team made us feel very welcome. Abdullah Alsudais, in particular, was incredibly kind and professional. We were also pleasantly surprised when Abdullah Alenezi and Rawabi sent complimentary drinks to us by the pool to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The pool temperature was perfect, and since the tower shades the area, the Riyadh sun wasn’t an issue at all. There was also a DJ, which created a great atmosphere. When we returned to our room, we found not one but two birthday cakes waiting for us, one from Abdullah Alsudais & Modhi from the Welcome Office Talents team, and another from Reem and Yasser from Guest Relations. Such thoughtful gestures made the celebration even more special 🩷🫶 Everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind and attentive. The hotel itself is stunning, with its own café and lounge. The food was enjoyable not the absolute best I’ve had, but definitely good and satisfying. We also had breakfast at Sira restaurant inside the hotel, and it was excellent. There was a wide variety of options, everything was delicious, and they celebrated my sister there as well. A special thanks to Sam, the manager, who was incredibly sweet and made us feel very well taken care of. Overall, W Riyadh is a truly beautiful hotel and absolutely worth experiencing, even though it comes with a premium price tag. The outstanding service and thoughtful hospitality made it a memorable stay, and I would happily return.

Our visit to the hotel was amazing from start to finish. The place was clean, comfortable, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. A special thank you to Clinton for being so kind, helpful, and professional throughout our stay..
