Cross-spit grilling in a Pierre Goudiaby Atepa villa

The meat here comes off a cross-shaped spit turning over open flame, a technique called cuisson à la croix that's the whole reason to book. It happens inside a villa designed by Senegalese architect Pierre Goudiaby Atepa on the Corniche des Almadies, wine cellar and cigar selection included.

Sunday brunch runs 11am to 3pm, all-you-can-eat for around 10,000 CFA. There's also a private room in the villa for confidential meetings or exclusive dinners, running alongside the regular service.

I'm giving this review live from the restaurant just to say how much I enjoyed the seafood risotto and the baobab juice (mamamia, we want the secret!), in short, a special mention to this restaurant!!! For the fan zone, there's nothing better!

The setting is pleasant, the music is nice, but the service is slow, and for most of the table, the meat arrived cold. A friend ordered a chicken burger without vegetables and specifically asked twice; the burger took over an hour to arrive, and what's more, it wasn't chicken but meat inside with vegetables.

Came for lunch on a Thursday with no reservation. The hostess was welcoming, but nonchalant. Lunch is a buffet with indoor and outdoor seating. If you are outside, then walking to and from the buffet is a pain. The food choices were underwhelming, but ok for the price of 10k without drinks. The food quality and taste were fine. I ordered the Asuka cocktail, which I didn't like because of the coconut milk. Mind you, coconut milk was not listed as an ingredient. I returned it and wasn't charged for it. Overall, I didn't like the experience.
