A half-secret basement built on Serbian spirits

Šira sits in the basement below the null social lab, just off Hotel Moskva, and you have to know it's there. The room is tiny and deliberately dark, and the list builds every cocktail on domestic spirits, something almost nobody else in Belgrade commits to.

Order the Kokta, an Americano rebuilt on travarica with the namesake Yugoslav soda. They also pour Serbian whisky, a sentence that still reads strange. Seats are few, so go early or midweek.

  We really enjoyed this place. The bartender was great and made some mean cocktails! We even did not like one (not because he did something wrong we were just not reading what we were ordering) and he didn’t even charge us for it! Super cozy and inviting!
