A Yugo-futurist listening bar with a room for introverts
The best detail in Belgrade right now is a hidden room where introverts order drinks through hatches in the wall and never have to face the bar. That's EJE, short for Esthetic Joys Embassy, built inside a 1920s building on Dobračina 39.
Designer Maxim Scherbakov turned the space into a Yugo-futurist fantasy split between listening bar, dining room and discotheque. The menu mixes Japanese and European plates with seasonal cocktails, and a full sit-down restaurant section joined the space by spring 2026.

If you have ever watched the Loki series, this place feels like it was taken straight out of the TVA. It has such an incredible, mid-century retro vibe. Tucked away in a small street in Dorćol right in the city center of Belgrade, it offers plenty of space both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor seating, they asked us to make a reservation in advance and required us to order dinner rather than just drinks; otherwise, we were welcome to sit inside. The interior is super cute, and they even have a dedicated "introvert corner"—small private booths where you can pull down a curtain and enjoy your meal without any fuss. I explored virtually every corner of the venue and was genuinely amazed by the design and aesthetic throughout. The staff and people were super friendly, and the garden features massive mirrors that make the outdoor space look even larger. It is also completely pet-friendly. As the evening went on, a DJ started playing and turning up the volume to pump up the crowd, but it felt a bit pointless. Everyone was just there to sit and talk, so trying to force a party atmosphere didn't really fit the casual coffee and cocktail lounge vibe of the place. They have an exceptionally creative cocktail menu with fun names and great variety. We tried most of the options, and every drink was top-notch—though, as usual, packed with plenty of ice. The food was decent and completely fine, but nothing mind-blowing. The biggest surprise was the bill. The prices here are quite wild, even shocking for Serbian standards. If you love a cool, super trendy aesthetic that looks completely different from anything else in the city, paying the premium might be worth it to you. Since it is still a fairly new spot, we might come back during the winter to get the full experience of sitting inside all evening.

Great interior design and atmosphere, delicious cocktails. I was sad that they didn't let me keep a coaster as a souvenir and the server was kind of rude about it.
