Slovenia's oldest wine cellar

Ptujska klet sits on Vinarski trg in the center of Ptuj, with cellar records dating back to the 13th century. Deep in its passages sits Slovenia's oldest wine, a golden 1917 vintage that's kept under lock rather than poured.

Upstairs, the cellar sells and pours the region's wines, especially the crisp Štajerska whites Ptuj is known for. Tastings and tours make this one of the first stops in a town built around wine.
