French pastry, Japanese technique, inside the Old City walls

Imported butter, a French bakery background from Palo Alto and training in Fukuoka: Maison Maison's pastry case is doing more homework than most Chiang Mai cafes bother with. It sits just inside the western Old City wall, a short walk from Wat Phra Singh.

The menu runs eggs, bacon and toast, waffles with banana, espresso and Thai tea. It's a slow-morning room, not a grab-and-go, which makes it a solid brunch stop in a neighborhood otherwise full of temples.
