Dinner in an Ottoman mansion inside Bursa's old citadel

Kitap Evi occupies a restored timber mansion in the Tophane quarter, the old citadel above Bursa's centre. A small boutique hotel shares the building, but the real draw is the courtyard: a garden under old trees inside the historic walls, with the ramparts and their city views just steps away.

The kitchen runs a Turkish and Mediterranean menu built for a slower meal than the kebab houses downtown. Book ahead for dinner in season and grab a table under the trees.

Amazing place with professional and friendly staff, located in the heart of the historic old city. The hotel is exceptionally clean, with great attention to detail and a relaxing atmosphere throughout. The owners’ hospitality was outstanding and made our stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend both the hotel and the restaurant. While it is a bit more expensive than some of the other options nearby, it is absolutely worth the price for the quality, service, and overall experience.

The restaurant is one of the best we've found in Turkey. The salads are to die for. I wish I could find salads like this at home in Colorado. The courtyard and restaurant is charming in an old world style. The staff is friendly. We enjoyed our stay, but the room A/C wasn't working terribly well. The decor is old school awesome. Parking can be a bit tricky but was no issue for us on the dead end road the hotel is situated on.

So nice we ate here twice! Well actually, three times. We stayed one night in the hotel and had a great experience (room and the restaurant, dinner and breakfast), and were still in Bursa for dinner the following day so decided to return for another delicious salad. The staff were very kind and the courtyard and sunroom was a charming place to eat. And delicious food!! The hotel is right on the old city wall so has a great view and the neighborhood was quiet. Very conveniently located too - we had a great day walking the old city and going to the bazaars.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the staff is friendly and professional, and the food is delicious and freshly prepared. I especially enjoyed the food – it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

Best hotel and restaurant in Bursa by a mile Amazing breakfast Amazing rooms Amazing service Location is 10/10 and the service and cleanliness was next to none.
