Dinner inside an 800-year-old arsenal on Boztepe hill

An explosion wrecked this stone ammunition depot in 1919, and the rebuild kept the original walls standing. Now the space holds several dining rooms and a café spread through the old arsenal.

Menus run from steak and kebab to fish and Italian, but nobody comes for one dish. They come for the building and the view over Trabzon from the hillside.

Good to know

Come for the setting and the view, it sits above the city, about 3 km from the centre.

Very beautiful place , it’s actually an old fortress that was rebuilt and transfered to and authentic restaurant Its a classic restaurant with highly standered food choices if intend to sit in the garden outside tacke mosquito repellent with you Very nice at the sunset 🌅 Average high price accordingly But mony wise also Very nice place to visit in Trabzon even for coffee break Recommended 👍🏻

We stopped for çay in mid-June 2023. There is not doubt that this is a wonderful place with a great atmosphere. The views are amazing (as are the rooms - we asked for a tour). It's not cheap but then again one pays for quality and ambience. The one down side? My wife visited the ladies' toilets and found them to have been neglected (waste bins overflowing, towels on the floor etc).
