Cafe Bea sits on the first floor above Active Supermarket on the Kisoro-Kabale road. Open 24 hours. Once the sun goes down it plays more like a bar than a cafe. It's owned by Amin Bunty, an Indian businessman with other holdings in Kabale. The crowd is mostly campus students and young professionals, not travelers.

The noise carries far enough that Central Division authorities and Cafe Bea's management have gone back and forth over it. In a single week, 76 nearby residents petitioned the council about it. None of that has slowed the place down.

Good to know

• It's on the first floor, entrance next to Active Supermarket.
• Go later in the evening for the bar side of it rather than the cafe side.
