A fireplace bar inside Kabale's oldest hotel

White Horse Inn sits on Makanga Hill. Longtime Kabale residents just call it 'the White Horse,' no street name needed. The in-house restaurant, Kabalega, serves breakfast through dinner. Next door, the Hemingway bar is what people actually talk about, mostly for the fireplace built into one of its walls.

At 120 rooms, it's large for Kabale, closer in scale to a hotel in Mbarara or Kampala. The bar still gets called Kabale's oldest. On a cold highland evening, the fireplace is why people stay past one drink.

Good to know

Ask for a seat near the fireplace in the Hemingway bar.
The Kabalega restaurant does a continental breakfast if you're not staying over.

This legendary place is just as amazing as it is. The environment is so natural, fresh air, calm surrounding and every moment feels valuable. The food is classic and affordable, all staff are professional and seemingly well experienced. The swimming pool side is as well ideal for relaxation with its kitchen alongside. Highly recommended if you want a peace of mind as well as value for your money

Visited this Antique hotel last month and i have to say it was a worthwhile stay. One might be fooled by the old structures that house the restaurant area and the accommodation spaces but behold the modern amenities gave me a surprise twist. The large bathroom with a rainfall shower and bathtub compliment the electric fire place within the room considering kabale being known for being cold in the night. The restaurant served great food for dinner (try their beef burger ) and breakfast spread was good. I would highly recommend this gem within kabale town incase one wants to experience true hospitality with a touch of history
