Roya

Persian pop-up turned restaurant on Shoal Creek
Roya spent its early life as a pop-up before opening on Shoal Creek Boulevard in February 2026. The menu takes classic Persian dishes somewhere more ambitious: fesenjoon, wagyu kabobs, saffron rice done with care.
There is a family-style tasting menu at $75 a head if you want them to choose. Austin has very little Persian food, and almost none of it at this level.

We went for dinner last night and sat at the bar. The meal and service exceeded expectations. We have never really eaten Persian food and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The kebab was my favorite and the unique drinks we great. Not sure I would come back for multiple drinks but the meal was amazing.

From the moment we arrived the service and atmosphere were exciting. The lower front desk makes it feel like a speakeasy. When we arrived upstairs they told us our table would be ready shortly which it was. We decided to have a drink at the bar first while waiting on the rest of the guests. Both bartenders were very knowledgeable and able to give suggestions. Not boring ones that you have a nice steakhouse but exotic ones showcasing flavors of the middle east. When sat we took our time, our server was more than patient and also very knowledgeable about the cuisine and recommendations. We ordered Sofreh for the table which is chef led 3 course meal. This is the way to go if you have never had Persian food. It took us on a journey through the various flavor profiles. The proportions were perfect and had just enough leftover to remind ourselves the next day or our previous culinary journey. I forgot to mention that the wine we ordered was out (which is fine). A sommelier came to out table and had a recommendation ready for us which was on point. We did not have to think or look at a menu. Fantastic Service. We ended with two desserts which were very different, one an ice cream and the other a cake on a biscuit. Incredible. A quick parting gift as a thank you for the dining with them and we were off. I will be back again. Hopefully to take someone else who has never had Persian food. What a treat.

This place gets 5 stars on service alone but thankfully the food and atmosphere were both amazing as well! Highly recommend the Hulu paneer, it was our table favorite. The drinks were super refreshing and paired well well with the savory dishes. You really can’t go wrong with any of the food. We ordered a lot off the menu and the koobideh and ghormeh sabzi were our favorite mains. The decor is beautiful and warm and cozy and the staff were very kind and welcoming. Will definitely come back 🙌🏽

Everything from beginning feels spectacular, from the moment you walk in, you're sensing the Persian culture. Everything food, service, decor, music, ambience are detail-oriented! I’d highly recommend the Albaloo polo and Ghormeh with rib and bone marrow! Staff are very nice and attentive.

This was our first time here, and I was so glad we chose Roya. The place is beautiful. Rich teal walls, stunning chandeliers, and overall a very opulent setting. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. She took her time to explain the menu and recommended her favorites and dishes that complemented one another. We ordered three of their signature cocktails, and all were amazing. There was an ample enough food for leftovers, so I thought the prices were well worth it. Highly recommend the Jeweled Rice, the Kabobs Kafka and chicken. The whipped feta dip with mushrooms.
