Rougarou

A Five Points cocktail bar chasing the country's best new bar title
Rougarou is one of four finalists nationwide for Best New American Cocktail Bar at the Spirited Awards, up against RiNo's Peach Crease Club. The name comes from Cajun folklore, and the cocktail list runs with that swamp-country influence.
It sits on Welton Street, the historic spine of Five Points once known as the Harlem of the West. The space is small, so get there early on weekends or you'll be standing while you wait for a seat.

There’s just nothing like this place in Denver!! The chicken entrée was incredible. It fell right off the bone. The ambience here is super fun southern hipster quirky, and the vibe is definitely on point. The cocktails the wine list. It’s a must do in Denver. The immediate neighborhood is five points quirk that doesn’t exactly know what it wants to be yet. This is certainly one of the best things on the block. They accommodated my dairy allergy with a menu ready to rock ‘n’ roll roll of my options which I absolutely loved. Some of the tables were quite close to each other. Will most definitely be back.

The Rougarou (restaurant, not mythical creature) is an absolute delight from start to finish. The service was top notch! The staff was so kind, and wonderful. They made us feel at home and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was scrumptious. We selected the tasting menu and the chef chose our dishes for us. The tasting menu is a good amount of food and really was worth the price! Our favorite dish was GrandDad's chicken. The Alabama white sauce was incredible and the chicken was fall of the bone tender. We also loved the Collard salad. The acidity of the sauce with the crisp textures of the greens & apples made our mouths 😋 happy. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making us feel at home with y'all tonight!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rougarou is easily one of the best Southern fine dining restaurants in Denver, Colorado! I decided to give this place a try with a group of friends after a mystery comedy show, and it exceeded every expectation. If I could give them 10 stars, I absolutely would. I personally ordered the catfish, Hot & Sour, and the grilled okra—every bite was incredible. If I had been dining by myself, I probably would’ve licked my plate clean! I also got to sample some of my friends’ dishes, including the Granddad’s Chicken, and it was outstanding. I can’t even remember everything I tasted because we were sharing so much, but one thing I do remember is that everything was delicious. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The food, the quality, and the overall experience were top-notch. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. Rougarou has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite restaurants in Denver!

Truly one of the best dinners we have ever had!! Cannot recommend enough. Every single dish hit. Get all of the starters. And the pork steak and granddads chicken were 10/10!! Go!

Rougarou has the benefits of good food, good drinks, good vibes, and being open on Mondays. Their drink menu definitely has the Yacht Club influence, providing some of the most interesting and delicious drinks. Service is friendly without being obtrusive and the seating is very cozy. The lighting was comfortable and it isn't too loud to hold a conversation. The food is delicious and pretty affordable for the quality. The pork steak, asparagus, rice pudding, and pie were my favorites, but everything on the menu looks delicious. I highly recommend saving room for at least one of the desserts and maybe the apple martini.
